How to find VA janitorial and grounds contracts on SAM.gov
VA medical centers, clinics and national cemeteries buy custodial, window cleaning, grounds, pest and related facilities services year-round. Much of it posts on SAM.gov; some of it prefers veteran-owned small businesses.
Why VA shows up often
The Department of Veterans Affairs runs hospitals, outpatient clinics and cemeteries that need daily or seasonal facilities work. In our weekly SAM.gov snapshots, VA is regularly among the agencies with open janitorial, grounds, pest or facilities notices. Volume changes week to week; always confirm on SAM.gov.
How to search
- Open SAM.gov Contract Opportunities search.
- Filter Department of Veterans Affairs (or search the agency name) and add NAICS 561720 for janitorial, 561730 for grounds, 561710 for pest, or 561210 for broader facilities support.
- Add place of performance for the states you can staff.
- Include Sources Sought and Presolicitation as well as solicitations so you see work early.
- Save the search and follow promising notices.

Veteran-owned priority
VA gives contracting preference to veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses under its own statutory priority rules. Many VA facilities notices are set aside for SDVOSB firms certified through SBA's Veteran Small Business Certification (VetCert) program. If you are not veteran-owned, you can still watch full-and-open or total small-business notices and consider subcontracting. What to read carefully
- Place of performance — which campus, cemetery or clinic; travel and staffing drive price.
- Wage determination — Service Contract Act rates often apply; see reading a solicitation and wage determination.
- Site visit — VA solicitations often require or strongly encourage one.
- Amendments — follow the notice; VA amendments can change dates and scope.
